What’s your go to foundation? Do you like a heavy layer to hide all your laugh lines, or do you go for a light and sheer formula that gives people a glimpse of the real you, wrinkles and all?
Even though I’m now in my 50’s, I use a very light foundation for a reason. When I was much younger, I was diagnosed with Melanoma. After growing up in the Southern California sun, this news wasn’t surprising to my doctor, but it ROCKED my world and changed the TRAJECTORY of my skin care routine.
I quickly realized the FOUNDATION of my lifestyle was headed down a destructive path. If I had continued abusing my skin without proper sunblock, I’d probably be covered in a thick layer of makeup right now. However, I SHIFTED my routine and built a NEW FOUNDATION – one built on planning ahead and protecting my body.
Now you’ve probably realized I’m not only talking about your skincare routine – although I do recommend a sensible one. The truth is, the CORE of who you are and what you believe is the FOUNDATION of your life. And if you don’t work on building a SOLID one, it’s sure to wind up with CRACKS.
Here are 4 KEY steps to building a SOLID FOUNDATION:
- LOOK INSIDE
Here’s a simple truth: What you portray on the OUTSIDE is a direct reflection of what’s going on INSIDE. Take time to get to know yourself. What do you like? What are your goals? What makes you happy? Explore who YOU are and WHERE you want to go.
- TAKE CARE OF THE CRACKS
Chances are, you have some cracks in your life. A bad diagnosis, financial trouble, a struggling business, weight issues, or an unhealthy relationship. These cracks can seep into your FOUNDATION. But it doesn’t mean you need to cover them up. If you do, you might wind up with an EARTHQUAKE!
Instead, TAKE CARE OF THE CRACKS. Start by recognizing that the hard times, the meaningful experiences that first show up as PROBLEMS can actually lead to your biggest areas of GROWTH.
- LISTEN TO YOUR INNER VOICE
In order to care for the cracks in your life, you need to LISTEN to your INNER VOICE. Is it in agreement with your FOUNDATION? If not, you may need to make some adjustments to how you spend your time, who is in your life, and what your trying to achieve.
- FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION
Besides your inner voice, be aware of where your INTUITION is guiding you. This is a powerful tool that we may ignore when making life decisions. But it’s a POWERFUL tool that can take you down the path you’re really meant to be on.
When you discover the CORE of who you ARE, you can build a SOLID FOUNDATION that will help you weather the ups and downs in life. And what’s more, give you the POWER to SHOW UP and BENEFIT others.
